THE STORY

Not to be outdone is the famed Americano. Though the Negroni might get all the strength (think lots of dry gin), the Americano is the precursor to the famed drink. Birthed in 1860, this drink pays homage to the early days of Aperitivo culture. It is the first drink Ian Fleming’s James Bond character orders, Bond picks an Americano while at an Italian café; suggesting that “in cafés you have to drink the least offensive of the musical comedy drinks that go with them.” It is also low in alcohol and can be enjoyed in moderation.
